Lots of progress

The cabinetry is all done now and it looks fantastic. I can't work out how to take pics of the bigger cabinets so there are just some pictures of bits of the cupboards!

The granite guy has done his final measurement, the carpet, showerscreens and mirrors are booked. The floor guy starts polishing on the 6th october. We are on track to move in at the end of October. We just need to decide on our splashback which goes in 1 week after the granite benchtop.

More pics

Here is one week's work. Things are really progressing now. We have narrowed down the carpet selections, the sparky has started putting in the powerpoints and the cabinet handles should go on over the weekend. The walk in robe hasn't gone in yet but the materials have been ordered. The design I drew didn't fit in the room (never was a mathematician) so the cabinet maker had to re-design it all. Will be good to see how it works out.

View of the kitchen from the stacker slider doors. they have been painting the doors so they are all spread out drying. We also had a couple of people come and measure up for the granite benchtops today.

Some colours!

The painters are more than 1/2 way through. We love the wall colour (wattyl Ermine White) that flows through the house. not 100% sure about the bedroom feature (browny colour), but love the dining room feature (red). They have done a great job so far and have been really accommodating of our (read my) changes of mind by painting just a little bit of the cornice, waiting for us to see it and then doing the rest or changing it. The electrician has started to put the powerpoints in and the cabinet maker has put the benchtops in the bathrooms. We have bought pretty much all the lights and have narrowed down the carpets. The belly keeps growing but we should be well and truly in by then!

The greyish - browny colour in the master bedroom ; also continued through cornice

the double vanity in the ensuite is finished. basins, taps and light to go in soon!

Getting Painted!

The tiles are finished, the paint has started. The carpet still needs to be chosen and booked (woops, our fault!) and we have finally decided not to go for a laminate kitchen benchtop so have to organise some quotes for granite and then buy baked beans for dinner for the next 5 years! in other news, the baby belly is growing which is very exciting. Some pics for the die hards!

A little more progress

Not too much work happening over the past few weeks. A few more tiles, a few more cabinets and some finalised paint colours. We did have the opening of the physio business which went very well but has taken up most of our time lately.

more kitchen cabinets with the 2-pac finish. no benchtop yet, still undecided on what to use.

Cabinetry

We had the weekend off doing any thing to do with the house or business (didn't stop the phone ringing at 0745 on our first day off!!) which was lovely. We got back today and went to check progress and were pleased to see that heaps and heaps has been done while we have been away!! Most of the cabinets are in, the skirting boards are done in most of the rooms and the remaining doors have been put on. There are no benchtops yet but the cabinets look excellent. We just need to finalise paints and then the painters will hopefully start in the next couple of weeks.

The cabinetry that hasn't gone in yet! There seems to be lots of it! We kept our (fantastic) cabinet maker very, very busy!

The skirting boards. We thought we asked for bigger ones but oh well, they look fine!

the shell of the kitchen with the new bulkhead. No shelving in the pantry yet

one half of the laundry with a full length cabinet behind the door. the washing machine and double trough are on the right out of the picture!

Frank standing at the breakfast bar of the kitchen! oven and stove top to the left out of the picture.

It's all coming together! We painted a bit of our sample pot on the walls and need to go back for a second coat tomorrow before finalising paint colours.

The latest

The timber floors have started to go in after a few dramas with one of our tradies!! We had to go and track down another carpenter because our carpenter refused to work with second hand timber! We have used second hand oak, it is a beautiful browny-red that will continue to darken over time. The boards need cleaning and preparing before they go down and we also nailed some of the boards down on the weekend to save us money. The floor should be done in a couple of days. in the meantime, the cabinet maker has started bringing some of the cupboards to the house. he has filled one of the bedrooms with our cupboards and thinks that is only just 1/4 of the total!! I still need to finalise the design of our walk-in robe. The tiler has also finished all of the floor tiling and is ready to go with the wall tiles. Given we are tiling all 3 bathrooms and the laundry to the 10 foot ceilings, this is a big job!

Locked up

We are officially locked up. The cornices are being put on and the remaining wet areas have been screeded ready for their tiles. We helped the cornice guy put some of the cornices up yesterday which is slow and precise work much to our disapointment. Things seem to be moving very slowly!! The next thing to go in will be the timber floor and after that, the built in robes and the kitchen can start to go in.

One bathroom down, lots more tiles to go!

The back bathroom has been finished and it looks fantastic. The ceiling guy also started today and the airconditioner goes in tomorrow. The carpenter has completely fitted the doorjambs in the wet areas and hopefully lock up is not too far off.
